Exchanges, Midtransfers, and Money
Howdy y'all! I hope all has been well with you and I apologize for not sending an email last week, I was crazy tired by the end of the day.
Last Week: Last week was a great week, We had some nice exchanges with the Ap's, and we had Elder Tsihala go with us for a couple days. We used their car, and that was pretty nice. Those were the two most productive days of the week. Last Friday we had one of the ZL's go with us, Elder Reyes. Since they didn't have a car, and no access to an extra bike, we had a walking day. That was pretty relaxing and we had some good conversations. On Saturday we had a stake-wide soccer tournament and that was decently fun. I played keeper for the missionary team.
Monday: Last Monday was pretty normal. We just went grocery shopping and hung out for the day. Nothing super special happened.
Tuesday: On Tuesday we discovered that we had no water! This sucked because I always shower in the morning, so I had to wait until the water came back to become presentable for the day. This took so much time out of the day and it made me pretty upset. Even so, after we finally made it to the area, we met with three very promising people, one of which expressed immediate desire to be baptized. We put him on date for the 19th of April even though he says that he's currently addicted to alcohol. We're working with him very steadily, so pray for him and the others!
Wednesday: Wednesday was already better than the day before as we had water! That was already a plus, and so I went into this day with lots of excitement. We traveled to our first appointment. Her and her son live about a 45 minute bike ride from the chapel, and it's up a rocky mountain so I faced one of my fears that day! IYKYK. Anyway, she has also already expressed lots of interest in being baptized, we just need to figure out how consistently she's gonna keep commitment before putting her on date. After that it was only canceled appointments but I still felt good because of the lesson we had before.
Thursday: Thursday was quite eventful. We met with the same people as Tuesday, so that was nice to see their progress. After that we biked to the family who is planned to be baptized on Sunday. On the way there, there are dirt roads and there are small little streams of sewage that cut through the roads. We have to cross over a couple of these, and in one of them, there was a shattered bottle hiding and I ended up running right over it. Tire? PSHHHHH! That sucked because this place is an hour walk away from the chapel. Nevertheless, we stayed, played some games with them and left early so we could walk back to the chapel without the sun going down. That was a fun walk.
Friday: On Friday we started with DCM, then after that we got lunch and headed to the area. Upon arriving to the area, I realized that I had forgotten the spare tube and tire to replace mine. So, upon realizing that we couldn't ride the bikes, we had to replan out our entire day so we could use bolt. We made it to every lesson we planned, and headed home with no issues. A pretty good day.
Saturday: Saturday was more relaxed. Elder Legodi came with me and Elder Phabia on an exchange and this was the day that we had to prepare the font for this family. We had to clean it, fill it, and watch it for pretty much the whole day. Since he's leaving next Tuesday, it was a good opportunity to just talk to him. He's been a good friend to me in this new area so it's sad to see him go. Beyond that we finished the prep and visited the family one last time before their baptism.
Sunday: The day finally came! The family that we've been teaching for months were finally going to be baptized! They came to church very excited about the day and were still sorely unprepared for the water. The heater we have doesn't work so it was pretty cold. Regardless, they all went under just fine and were ecstatic to finally be baptized. It was a great day!
Spiritual Thought: I've been thinking a lot lately about my responsibilities as a District Leader. For those of you who don't know, a missionary District Leader is kind of in charge of a group of 4-14ish missionaries. I'm currently in charge of 5, as the other companionship is a trio. One of my responsibilities is to get to know everyone personally and as a companionship/trio. As I've been trying to fulfill that duty, I've noticed that the Spirit is so necessary in order to do that job well. I've needed to rely on the Spirit in order to decipher the needs of those under my charge. I've been able to see how effective I can be when I rely on the guidance of the Spirit to help me do my job! I invite all of you to find how you can implement this principle into your own lives, and to always have His Spirit to be with you!
Sorry again for the long email, thanks for pushing through if you made it this far!
Much love, Elder King
