Leaving My Home Away From Home

Howdy all! Sorry for the late email, today was busy busy! Monday: I lowkey don't remember what we did last Monday besides basketball and a little work in the area. I'm sure it was a good day, and I know I got a lot closer with Elder Redondo! Tuesday: Knocking is ALWAYS fun. Today we actually found a couple promising people! We made return appointments for them and went back on those days. For the rest of the day we contacted tons and tons of people, so that was fun. Wednesday: We went knocking again, but this time it was fruitless. We saw our possessed buddy again, and tried to help him. We sang a nice hymn together and left him with a nice prayer. Then we met someone who claims to be baptized, but then also tried to start his own church based on the teachings of the Church. Fun times. Thursday: Another sad day of knocking. We didn't find anyone to teach or even remotely interested in our message. The rest of the day was filled with lessons with members. They were all good,...

Rain, Rain, GO AWAY!

Howdy ya'll! This email will most likely be super, super repetitive. It was a lot of the same this week. Enjoy! Monday (last):  Pretty produtive, we were able to plan out a very good week, even though there was tons of floods. We didn't go to the area but we were able to get a lot of stuff done. I also played 4 hours of basketball in the pouring rain. Tuesday:  Tuesday was very fun! We opened the day with a nice lesson with some of our recent converts, and almost got stuck in the mud. Then we went and hungout with a member family who did not come to church becuase of the rain, even though we baptized two people. After that we had some nice lunch, and accidentally both slept for wayyy too long afterwards. After that we tried to call one of our friends, but they would not pickup. We decided to go see our Elder's Quorum President, and got stuck in the mud on the way there. Elder Muller jumped on the tow hitch to give us traction and we were free! on the way back, we slid right...

The Miracles of God

Howdy, my friends and family! I hope all is well for all those around the world and especially those at home. Let's just jump right into it this week. Monday:  Last Monday we tried to go and see Sister Graca, but we were blocked and threatened by a riot on the road. Because me and my companion are white, we were literally chased out of town by those who were rioting. A fun little experience, but we were protected and unharmed. The bakkie can't say so much as the same thing. Tuesday:  Comp exchange! Elder Muller went to Tickyline with Elder Rami andI went to Lenyenye with Elder Lasley, the greenie we pranked a few weeks ago. I helped him learn how to improve his finding approach, learn how to teach by the Spirit, and also to teach to people's needs. He was so dead set on teaching the planned lesson, that he tried to discount some questions and feelings those we met that day had. I helped him to understand that we are these people's friends first, not missionaries. After ...

Ke Decembaaaaa (and happy new year)

Howdy ya'll, my friends, family, and loved ones! It's been a hot minute since I've sent an email, so sorry about that. I'll try to keep it as brief as I can! Christmas Week:  This whole week we had many short days, and Christmas itself was a p-day. On the short days, we weren't allowed to be in the area past a certain time because the drunk people here made it too dangerous. On Christmas Eve, some of our zone came and hung out with us, and we all slept over in another elders' flat because we were allowed to. On Christmas day, we all got up late because we could, and after that went and played about 3 hours of basketball. I got severely sunburnt but ut was fun so it was worth it. After basketball we all got cleaned up and we went and had Christmas dinner at the senior couple's house, the Andelins! It was super good, and we all shared a spiritual thought! After that we just played some games and it was a good time. The rest of the week was back to work like no...
