Leaving My Home Away From Home

Howdy all!

Sorry for the late email, today was busy busy!

Monday: I lowkey don't remember what we did last Monday besides basketball and a little work in the area. I'm sure it was a good day, and I know I got a lot closer with Elder Redondo!

Tuesday: Knocking is ALWAYS fun. Today we actually found a couple promising people! We made return appointments for them and went back on those days. For the rest of the day we contacted tons and tons of people, so that was fun.

Wednesday: We went knocking again, but this time it was fruitless. We saw our possessed buddy again, and tried to help him. We sang a nice hymn together and left him with a nice prayer. Then we met someone who claims to be baptized, but then also tried to start his own church based on the teachings of the Church. Fun times.

Thursday: Another sad day of knocking. We didn't find anyone to teach or even remotely interested in our message. The rest of the day was filled with lessons with members. They were all good, but I wish that they were new people. The members are good, don't get me wrong. It's just different when it's people who already know and you just refresh versus some learning it new.

Friday: Even more knocking, but this time... No success! Another day of not new friends. We can only pray the Lord sees our efforts! After that we met with the other people we found on Tuesday and only one of them seems long term. We will see. Pray for them!

Saturday: More knocking, even less success. After we finished that up, we found a recent convert named Katlego walking down the street and we let him hold onto the side of the bakkie (shhh its a secret) to visit a member friend of his so he could tell him to come bless the sacrament with him. We love Katlego! After that we had a good chat with Pres Victor of the Elder's Quorum. That night, I was mid workout when the transfer board dropped. I was honestly expecting to leave, but I desperately wanted to stay. Alas, I leave this area and I head to a place called Saulsville! I'm now going to be on bikes, and my new comp is named Elder Phabia! I think he's from Africa but I just don't know. Anyways, I'm excited to see him in real life!

Sunday: What a sad, sad day. We only told my branch president that I was leaving, so he was the one to surprise the branch with the news. He invited me up to bare my testimony, and as I was a few of the people I've grown close with began to shed tears. It made me also begin to cry, and it was very sad. After the meeting there we visited all the members I wanted to say bye to. We also taught one of the families we found on Tuesday, but they didn't come to church like they said they would (rip). It was a good lesson and I feel like we hooked them more. I'm sad to not be able to be the one to teach them more but I trust the missionaries taking my place.

Spiritual Thought: God loves effort. He doesn't just give us things because we want them, He gives us things He knows we need, and things that apply to our situation. On the first day of knocking, we were not excited because all of the days we did it, we found no success. Then we did the one thing we didn't really want to, and found some people! We are extremely blessed to have more people to teach, and I hope they progress! God blesses us according to our efforts, and often times it will be exactly what you need!

Much love!
Elder King
