The Real Work Begins

Howdy ya'll, my friends and family!

It's been an eventful week, so ill get straight into it.

Monday: Last Monday was pretty mellow, Elder Gutierrez had just ledt and so I felt more free. I had a great time hanging out with the zone playing sports and eating together. They're a load of great people.

Tuesday: The trio of Elder Redondo, Elder Mwenda, and myself first chose to start in Tickyline on Tuesday. We went around contacting and teaching like normal, and found 3 new people who were very interested. It was a good day.

Wednesday: This was our Lenyenye day. I stuck with the other two elders as we went through their area teaching and contacting. It was another successful day.

Thursday: Transfer day!! It was so exciting picking up Elder Edwards to head down to Pretoria to pick up my new comp and his greenie! Since it was a long drive, me and him were able to talk alot and get closer. When we got our new comps, I discovered that I was lied to and Elder Müller is actually from Switzerland! Kinda crazy that I havent had an American comp yet but I'm loving it! At the Pretoria chapel i was able to meet up with two of my MTC roomates, Elder Judi and Elder Blau! It was great to see them but we were missing one big part of our crew.... RIP Elder Christensen. On the way back, Elder Müller, Edwards, and his greenie, Elder Dean all talked together while Elder Müller drove. It was a fantastic day.

Friday: Elder Müller's first day in the area! We went to see a ton of members that day, allowing him to meet everyone and also maybe reactivate a lot of people. It was a great day.

Saturday: Another contacting day. We visited even more members and taught a couple lessons. We were excited to invite a ton of people to church and talk to tons of new faces to me. Elder Gutierrez never took me to see any members so most of them after both days were brand new to both me and Elder Müller.

Sunday: It started off disappointing because all of the people we invited to church backed out. We were so hopeful because we had gotten enthusiastic yeses but we were wrong. We tried convincing on Sunday morning before the service started but no one caved for us. Afterwards we went around contacting more people after a wonderful member meal! The highlight of the day was a Sister who found us. She lives a 2 hour walk away from the chapel and we found out that she tried to come to church, but she got totally lost! She's super excited to start meeting with us and is looking forward to going to church. Wonderful elect woman!

Spiritual Thought: The Lord doesn't always help the missionaries, or anyone, specifically with what they want or think they need. He knows what we need and when we need it perfectly, and we just have to trust in Him. I know that my first companion was rough because the Lord needed me to gain some form of resilience. I'm a little anxious as to what I'd need it for, but I'm eager to perform the Lord's will in any way that it can.

Until next time!
Love, Elder King
